Pampanga's Best | Susie's Cuisine Food Trip

I've been to Pampanga a couple of times and many more times I passed by the area whenever I visit La Union, but was not really able to tour much around the area.

Lucky for me, Ms. FeebleFeet was a native of Pampanga, and during our last visit to the Philippines, she opted to tour me around Pampanga, mostly just to visit and eat around two of her favorite restaurants in the area.

People in Pampanga's love for food is unmatched, they love to cook and serve their guests with different kinds of tasty dishes. There's no wonder the Pampangenos were really good when it comes to cooking.

The first one was Didi's pizza, which is very famous for its burgers and pizza, but the main highlight of this blog is the next restaurant we went to.

The food place that we went to was Susie's Cuisine. I was told that this particular restaurant has been in the industry for a very long time already and has become a household name for most of the Pampangenos.

We visited their branch near Nepo Mall. Susie's Cuisine's setup was a normal cafeteria type restaurant, but oh boy! The variety of dishes they serve in this restaurant is numerous.

Ms. FeebleFeet and her family ordered me these dishes below for me to taste and judge.

The first one on the list is my personal favorite. They know that I love this dish and they have their own version of this dish in Pampanga.

Puto at Dinuguan ( Blood Pudding Stew)

This particular dish pork blood dish is an exquisite dish which is very well known in the Philippines. There are lots of ways to season this dish, but I personally love the salty natural taste of it, not too sour.

Pampanga's version or shall we say Susie's version of the dish is a bit sour but is still good, especially if combined with Puto(Steamed cake).

Susie's Mochi

I've seen mochi before but this was my first time seeing a mochi mixed with sweetened coconut milk. It is made from glutinous rice balls(Galapong) with mong beans inside it.

It is the milky dish on the left side of the photo. It has an exquisite taste. Best way to eat it is by combining the tasty fillings with the sweetened coconut milk.

Arroz Valenciana (Bringhe in Pampanga)

It is pretty much like Paella. It is made again with glutinous rice, chicken, chorizo, veggies, and coconut milk combined to create this one-pot meal.

I love the taste of this particular food and it is really a good dish to serve especially if you have guests or visitors coming to your place.

Last but definitely not the least on why we went to Susie's Cuisine is because of their famous -

Halo-Halo

Halo-Halo is basically the Filipino term for "mixed" or "a combination of". And it is specifically made the same way. Usual ingredients of the Halo-Halo are a sliced banana, jelly-like pearls, water yam(Ube), Leche Flan(Flan Milk), condensed milk and crushed ice.

This particular dessert made from Susie's has an additional ingredient in it to make it more special. They add pastillas(milk-based confectionery) to add sweetness to the already sweet dessert.

We were so full after eating at Susie's Cuisine. The best part, you don't need to break your bank just to have a taste of the Pampanga delicacies. Aside from their normal menu, they also sell other pre-made snacks that you can bring home to your family and friends.

If you're planning to visit Pampanga or if you will be nearby Pampanga, make sure to visit Susie's Cuisine to have a taste of these flavorful dishes.
